LA Bucket List

I've got a little over two months left in LA after an unforgettable 6 years. I've really come to love it here and one of the main reasons is because there is so much to do and see. I feel like I've taken advantage of all that LA has to offer, but there are still a few more things I'd like to check off my list before I move to Portland.

-Go to the Getty Villa in Malibu to see the beautiful gardens
-See a modern art exhibit at the LACMA
-Eat at Pizzeria Mozza
-Stroll down Rodeo Drive
-Go to an outdoor concert at the Hollywood Bowl
-Spend the day in San Dimas at Raging Waters water park
-Go to the beach as many times as possible
-Buy tamales from the lady I walk past on my way to work
-Go to Disneyland once more (I used to have an annual pass)
-Go thrifting at the Melrose flea market one last time
-Buy a bookbag for grad school that was handmade right here in LA
-Host another rooftop brunch

Flower District

Going to the Flower District on the weekend is easily one of my favorite activities. I love walking there and being able to smell the flowers before I even arrive. It's also a nice way to treat myself and do something girly. This weekend, Tommy was out of town so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to do even more girly things. I went to Target and got a new glass pitcher for summer and went to Club Monaco, easily one of my favorite stores. The clothes are so soft and simple, yet beautiful and eye-catching. I can tell they will last a lifetime. As far as my favorite color combo goes, purple and orange is at the top of the list so I was excited to find orange ranunculus and purple anemones and to highlight them with green amaranthus.

The Park on Sunset

A welcoming chalkboard sign

A cute display of cookbooks that makes the restaurant feel cozy and organic

My fried egg sandwich with caramelized onions, arugula, tomato and gruyere (so good!)

Tommy ordered the brioche french toast, bacon and eggs

A friend recommended The Park in Echo Park and now that we've tasted their fresh and creative menu, we can't get enough. This Saturday was one of the nicest days we've had all year so we decided to go to The Park for brunch. At 79 degrees, sitting on the patio with the warm breeze blowing ever-so-slightly was the perfect way to experience the beautiful weather. After our meal, we took a stroll down Sunset Boulevard (images below), but only made it a few blocks before the Oregonian in us told us to forego the sunburns and head back downtown.

Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake Bars

This weekend I made three recipes from pinterest including these lemon blueberry cheesecake bars. I didn't get a picture of the actual bars since by the time they cooled it was dark out, and also because we pretty much gobbled them right up! With a simple graham cracker crust, fluffy cheesecake, and fresh blueberries that pop! when you bite them, these bars are the perfect spring treat. The recipe came from this site. Click the link to follow it exactly; you won't be disappointed!
